Tiwa Savage, Made Kuti and Femi Kuti lost what could have been their Grammy recognition trophy at the 63rd Grammy Awards to Taylor Swift.

Nigerians are elated for Burna Boy and Wizkid winning at the 63rd Grammy Awards and in the same spirit highly hope Tiwa Savage, Made Kuti and Femi Kuti will also win at the 2021 Grammys for their efforts in Coldplay's album EVERYDAY LIFE nominated in the ALBUM OF THE YEAR and BEST RECORD PACKING categories.

Tiwa Savage, Femi Kuti and Made Kuti all featured on the album. The Kutis featured on the amazing record, 'ARABESQUE' where Femi Kuti had an amazing Trumpet solo while Tiwa Savage worked on 'EKO.'

Well if the album had won ALBUM OF THE YEAR they get to win the Grammy partially which means they get the Grammy Certificate instead of Gramophone.

WHY?

According to Grammy's, the rule for that category states that "For albums containing at least 51% playing time of new vocal or instrumental recordings. Award to Artist(s) and to Featured Artist(s), Songwriter(s) of new material, Producer(s), Recording Engineer(s), Mixer(s) and Mastering Engineer(s) credited with at least 33% playing time of the album, if other than Artist."

Vox clarifies that "Generally if you participated in creating a significant portion of the album (defined as at least 33 percent of its playing time), you get a golden gramophone."

Since their participation is not up to 33% of the body of work then Tiwa Savage, Made Kuti and Femi Kuti gets Grammy certificate if Coldplay wins the Grammy's ALBUM OF THE YEAR. If the album did not win album of the year but win BEST RECORD PACKING they win nothing as the award nod goes to the album's art director.

Surprisingly, Taylor Swift wins the ALBUM OF THE YEAR for her amazing album FOLKLORE which according to her was conceived during COVID 19 quarantine.
