In a bid to have a safe Yuletide season and to stem the tide of vehicular obstruction to enable free flow of traffic, the Council Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa today met with officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) as they held a parley session.

The meeting which will be the second of its kind had in attendance high ranking cadre officers of the agency. In the course of the meeting, the Council Mayor assured the agency that the Local Government is ready to be a willing partner as he used the opportunity to make a request for a separate zone for Ibeju Lekki as the Local Government Area has a large landmass with a population bursting at its seams. 

The Council Chairman affirmed that the volume of traffic is on the increase as the travelling time to the mainland is on an average of two hours as he confirmed that the Ibeju Lekki corridor is strategic to the business and residential purposes. To this end, the Mayor solicited the support of the Agency to help accommodate the unit section of the Local Government security outfit, Ibeju Lekki Safety Corps trained for traffic control, under the guidance of LASTMA.

Mr. Olalekan Bakare, the Quarter Master thanked the Council Chairman and acknowledged that indeed the Mayor is one of a kind as he promised the support and cooperation of the agency. He however made a request for mobile yacht premises where vehicles will be kept.

The Council Chairman in his response affirmed that preparations are in top gear to get temporary offices by the beginning of a new year to serve as official premises to the agency as an on-site assessment will be carried out. The Council boss however pleaded that execution of all discussions held should be fast-tracked as both parties will take responsibilities and harmonize on how the plans will come to fruition.
