The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) have entered into a €5 million agreement aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity across Africa.

This collaboration seeks to support research, innovation, and capacity-building initiatives to improve food security and promote sustainable agricultural practices on the continent.

The funding will be directed towards developing climate-resilient crop varieties, improving soil health, and implementing advanced farming techniques. By empowering farmers with the necessary tools and knowledge, the partnership aims to increase crop yields, reduce post-harvest losses, and enhance the livelihoods of millions of smallholder farmers.

This agreement underscores the commitment of both organizations to address the challenges facing Africa's agricultural sector and to promote economic growth through sustainable agriculture.
