Residents of the Oke/Abori area of Iyana Ipaja, a bustling neighborhood in Lagos State, have expressed profound gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the prompt and efficient rehabilitation of a severely damaged canal that had long posed significant environmental and health risks.

The canal, which had been in a state of disrepair for years, led to frequent flooding, breeding of mosquitoes, and other associated health hazards, disrupting the daily lives of the residents.

The rehabilitation project, completed ahead of the rainy season, is part of the state's broader environmental management strategy aimed at mitigating flooding and improving sanitation. By addressing such critical infrastructure issues, the administration demonstrates its dedication to enhancing the quality of life for Lagos residents.

Community leader, Chief Adewale Ogunleye, praised the governor's responsiveness, stating, "We have endured the challenges posed by the dilapidated canal for years. Governor Sanwo-Olu's intervention has not only alleviated our suffering but also restored our confidence in the government's commitment to our well-being."

Local businesses, previously affected by the canal's poor condition, have also begun to experience a resurgence, with shop owner Mrs. Funmi Adebayo noting increased patronage and a cleaner environment attracting more customers.

The successful rehabilitation of the canal stands as a testament to the positive impact of responsive governance and the importance of infrastructure maintenance in urban development.
