The controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has urged the Federal Government to take seriously the threat by the kidnappers of the students of Greenfield University Kaduna. 

According to ThePunch, Gumi warned the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should pay the kidnappers the demanded handsome of N100m for the release of the students.

It was also gathered that Sheikh Gumi made the call as a parent of one of the abductees lamented that the kidnappers were insisted the ransom of N100m be paid.

The parent had said the bandits want the ransom paid as demanded and threatened to kill the students if the government fails.

According to reports, 23 students and a member of staff of the university were abducted from the tertiary institution on April 20th 2021. Afterwards, five of the abducted student were killed by the bandits.

In an interview on Monday, one of the bandits who goes by the name Sani Jalingo speaking with VOA Hausa service, made known the N100m demanded ransom and 10 motorcycles to buy the abductees freedom.

Jalingo threatened that the failure of the Kaduna State Government or families of the students to meet the demands by Tuesday (yesterday), would lead to the killing of the abductees.
