Governor Siminalayi Fubara has assured the people of Rivers State that the ongoing political crisis in the state will not derail governance, expressing confidence that the state will emerge stronger.

Addressing residents and political stakeholders in Port Harcourt, the governor acknowledged the challenges posed by the political rift between his administration and former Governor Nyesom Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The feud has led to intense political maneuvering, including the defection of lawmakers, attempts to impeach Fubara, and legal battles over the legitimacy of the state legislature.

Despite these setbacks, Fubara emphasized that governance in Rivers State remains on track, reassuring citizens that his administration remains committed to delivering key infrastructural projects, improving education and healthcare, and ensuring economic growth. He described the political turbulence as a temporary storm that would pass, urging residents to remain patient and steadfast in their support for his leadership.

“The people of Rivers State should not be disheartened by these events. We have faced challenges before, and we have always emerged stronger. I strongly believe that this is another phase that will soon be over, and we will continue to move forward,” Fubara stated.

He further expressed his belief that divine intervention would play a role in resolving the conflict, stressing that Rivers State has a history of overcoming adversity. Fubara also called on political leaders and stakeholders to prioritize the interests of the state over personal ambitions, emphasizing that unity is crucial in sustaining peace and development.

As the crisis continues to unfold, many political observers are watching to see whether mediation efforts will succeed in restoring stability to the state. For now, Fubara remains optimistic that Rivers will weather the storm and emerge stronger in the long run.
