The recent departure of Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, from the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sparked discussions among party stakeholders regarding its implications for the party's future.
Jandor, who was the PDP's governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, announced his resignation on March 3, 2025, citing internal issues such as indiscipline and anti-party activities.
In response to his exit, the PRIMROSE Movement, comprising founding members of the Lagos PDP, has aligned with Jandor's camp to rejuvenate the party. Led by Chief Dapo Sarumi, a former Minister of Information, the movement has joined forces with loyalists of the PDP Deputy National Secretary, Mr. Setonji Koshoedo, to establish the Lagos PDP Elders Council. This council aims to provide strategic direction and revive the party's foundational vision in the state.
The formation of the Elders Council and the collaboration with Jandor's supporters are seen as efforts to address longstanding internal conflicts and reposition the PDP as a formidable opposition in Lagos State. Party elders have expressed their commitment to charting a new course that aligns with the aspirations of Lagosians, hoping to restore confidence among members and the electorate.
