The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has announced its readiness to conduct the forthcoming local government elections, assuring residents of a transparent and credible electoral process.

LASIEC Chairman, Justice Ayotunde Phillips (retd.), revealed that the commission has completed necessary preparations, including voter education programs, recruitment of ad-hoc staff, and deployment of security measures to ensure a smooth election.

“We are committed to conducting a free, fair, and credible election that will reflect the true wishes of Lagosians. We urge all political parties and candidates to play by the rules and avoid any form of electoral malpractice,” she said.

The commission also addressed concerns about voter apathy, stressing that measures are being put in place to encourage maximum participation. Security agencies have been directed to maintain order at polling units and prevent any form of intimidation or violence.

With political parties already intensifying their campaigns, LASIEC has reiterated that it will remain neutral and ensure that the election is conducted in accordance with the law.
