The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has called on the National Security Adviser (NSA) to cease military interventions targeting Distribution Companies (Discos) across the country. This appeal comes in the wake of reports indicating that military operations have been conducted against certain Discos due to disputes over electricity supply and billing issues.

Minister Adelabu emphasized that while the challenges within the power sector are acknowledged, addressing them through military means is counterproductive and could further destabilize the sector. He advocated for dialogue and regulatory measures as the appropriate channels for resolving conflicts between Discos and consumers or government entities.

The Minister highlighted that the power sector is undergoing reforms aimed at improving efficiency, service delivery, and customer satisfaction. He noted that undue military interventions could undermine these efforts and deter potential investments in the sector.

Stakeholders within the power industry have echoed the Minister's sentiments, urging for a collaborative approach to resolving disputes. They stress the importance of adhering to regulatory frameworks and engaging in constructive dialogue to address grievances and enhance the overall performance of the power sector.

The call to halt military actions against Discos underscores the need for a balanced approach that considers the interests of consumers, service providers, and the government's objectives of achieving a stable and reliable power supply for the nation.
