Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, the newly appointed Alaafin of Oyo, has addressed concerns regarding the nature of his selection, emphasizing its spiritual foundation over any political influence.

In a recent statement, Oba Owoade asserted that his emergence was guided by divine consultation through traditional Ifa divination, underscoring the cultural and spiritual protocols inherent in Yoruba kingship appointments. He expressed profound gratitude to the Oyomesi, the traditional kingmakers, for adhering to these sacred traditions and to the Oyo State Government for respecting the autonomy of the selection process.

Oba Owoade acknowledged the competitive nature of the selection, recognizing the aspirations of other contenders and royal families. He extended an olive branch to all, urging unity and collective effort towards the development and progress of Oyo town.

He emphasized that his reign would focus on fostering peace, preserving cultural heritage, and implementing initiatives aimed at socio-economic development. The monarch also highlighted plans to collaborate with both state and federal governments, as well as international organizations, to bring infrastructural projects and educational advancements to the kingdom.

In his address, Oba Owoade called upon the youth to actively participate in community development, assuring them of his commitment to creating opportunities that would harness their potential. He also pledged to work closely with local businesses and artisans to promote indigenous industries and crafts, aiming to boost the local economy and create employment opportunities.
