Fuji music icon Saheed Osupa has withdrawn his defamation lawsuit against controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, following a legal battle sparked by Portable’s alleged disparaging remarks in a viral video.

Osupa announced the decision on April 14, 2025, citing compassion and public appeals from fans and industry figures, but stipulated conditions, including a public apology from Portable within seven days. The lawsuit, filed in February 2025 at an Ota High Court in Ogun State, stemmed from Portable’s claims that Osupa’s music lacked relevance, which Osupa’s legal team argued damaged his reputation and caused emotional distress.

Portable, 31, had issued a partial apology in March, but Osupa deemed it insufficient, escalating tensions. The withdrawal follows mediation efforts by Fuji music elders, with Osupa stating, “I’m acting for peace, but respect must be mutual.” Court documents valued the suit at ₦50 million, though no damages were awarded.

Portable’s management has not confirmed whether he’ll comply with the apology demand, but posts on X suggest fans are divided, with some praising Osupa’s leniency and others urging Portable to stand firm. The case, drawing 10,000 daily streams to Osupa’s music on Boomplay since February, underscores the Fuji-hip-hop rivalry, as both artists eye major releases in 2025.
