The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially refuted claims circulating in certain media outlets that Saudi Arabia has imposed a blanket ban on Nigerian travelers and pilgrims. In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that no such directive has been issued by the Saudi authorities.

The ministry acknowledged that there was an isolated incident involving the cancellation of visas for 264 Nigerian passengers in Jeddah, which is currently under investigation to determine any consular or aviation breaches.

The government emphasized its commitment to ensuring the welfare and rights of Nigerian citizens abroad and is actively engaging with Saudi counterparts to prevent future occurrences of such incidents. Nigerians intending to travel to Saudi Arabia are advised to ensure they possess proper documentation and to comply strictly with international travel regulations to facilitate seamless journeys. The government also highlighted the importance of travelers staying informed about the visa application processes and requirements to avoid complications.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reiterated its dedication to providing consular support to Nigerians abroad and has urged citizens to reach out to Nigerian embassies or consulates in their respective countries for assistance when needed. The government continues to work closely with international partners to safeguard the interests of its citizens globally.
