Clashes between Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in Darfur’s El Fasher killed 57 civilians, including 15 children, on April 15-16, 2025, per Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
The fighting, centered around El Fasher’s main market, injured 132 and displaced 10,000, with 80% trapped in camps, per UNHCR. The violence, part of Sudan’s 2023 civil war, has killed 24,000 in Darfur since April 2023, per UN OCHA, with 6 million displaced nationwide.
The RSF, controlling 70% of Darfur, shelled civilian areas, while SAF airstrikes hit RSF positions, destroying 40% of El Fasher’s water infrastructure, per UNICEF.
