Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has declared that President Bola Tinubu faces no credible threat to his 2027 re-election bid, asserting that opposition groups lack the cohesion to challenge the APC’s dominance.
Sani emphasized Tinubu’s economic reforms, including fuel subsidy removal and naira floatation, as laying the foundation for long-term growth, despite public discontent over 24% inflation in May 2025.
Sani’s remarks respond to emerging opposition coalitions, including the David Mark-led All Democratic Alliance, which applied for INEC registration on June 20. “Those plotting against Tinubu in 2027 are daydreaming; the APC’s achievements will speak for us,” Sani said, citing infrastructure projects like the Abuja-Kaduna rail rehabilitation, per ThisDay. He highlighted Kaduna’s security improvements, with banditry incidents dropping 40% in 2024 due to federal support, per Nigeria Police data.
Critics argue Sani’s optimism overlooks public frustration with rising living costs and insecurity in neighboring states like Zamfara. The governor’s alignment with Tinubu, a fellow APC stalwart, aims to consolidate northern support, but analysts warn that economic challenges could fuel opposition momentum. Sani’s administration plans to unveil 50 rural road projects by December 2025 to bolster APC’s grassroots appeal.
