Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham-Ajeyemi has declared herself a “prophet,” asserting that her movies serve as a medium to heal and inspire audiences spiritually. 


Abraham, 42, known for blockbusters like Ijakumo, said, “I’m a prophet; God uses my movies to heal people’s pain and show them hope,”. She cited fan testimonies of overcoming depression after watching her new film, Iyalode, claiming divine inspiration in her storytelling. The actress, who has produced 10 films since 2018, emphasized themes of redemption and faith, resonating with Nigeria’s 80% Christian and Muslim populationg.

Critics, including film scholar Tunde Onikoyi, questioned her claims as marketing hype, but supporters praised her impact, with Iyalode grossing ₦100 million in just 4 days. Abraham’s assertion aligns with Nollywood’s $1 billion industry, where spiritual themes drive viewership, per UNESCO. She urged peers to create purposeful content
