Former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola has called on supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with facts rather than physical confrontations.

Aregbesola, who fell out with the APC in 2022, emphasized intellectual discourse, saying, “The battle for Nigeria’s future is won with evidence, not fists, let’s expose APC’s failures with data.” He cited a 33% inflation rate, 10,217 insecurity deaths since 2023, and a $36 billion debt as proof of APC’s shortcomings.

Aregbesola, now an ADC strategist, rallied 3,000 supporters, urging them to leverage the party’s 1 million membership to counter APC’s 20 state governorships with policy critiques. He highlighted ADC’s 2024 manifesto, promising a N3 trillion job creation fund, gaining 60% approval in Osun.

APC’s Osun Chairman Tajudeen Lawal dismissed the call as “desperate,” noting Aregbesola’s past governance lapses. The appeal, amid 2027 coalition talks with Atiku Abubakar, aims to unify opposition, with a fact-based campaign launch set for July 12 in Lagos.
