Femi Otedola, the billionaire chairman of Geregu Power Plc, will launch his highly anticipated book, Making It Big, on August 18, 2025, at a gala event in Lagos.
Announced on July 17, the memoir promises an in-depth look at his journey from a modest upbringing in to building a $1.5 billion fortune through oil, shipping, and energy ventures. Otedola, 62, has teased revelations about overcoming the 2008 financial crisis, which saw his net worth plummet by 70%, and his strategic pivot to power generation, now contributing 10% of Nigeria’s electricity.
The 300-page book, co-authored with a renowned biographer, includes insights into his mentorship under business icons and lessons on resilience, with pre-orders surpassing 5,000 copies. Industry leaders like Aliko Dangote have endorsed it as a blueprint for young entrepreneurs, though some speculate it may address his 2019 legal battles over asset disputes.
The launch, expected to draw global investors, coincides with Geregu’s $200 million expansion plans, positioning Otedola as a key figure in Nigeria’s economic narrative amid a 33% inflation rate challenging local businesses.
