Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, alongside other All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, gathered in Abuja on July 24, 2025, for a critical National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting relocated to the Presidential Villa.

The session, chaired by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, includes 24 governors and 72 senators, focusing on consolidating the party’s recent gains, including the defection of four PDP senators. Uzodimma, a key strategist, emphasized unity and preparations for the 2027 elections.

The meeting also addresses internal challenges, such as funding disputes and the Osun APC’s rejection of Governor Adeleke’s defection. Governors from northern states pushed for infrastructure priorities, while southern leaders advocated for economic diversification.

The narrative of a unified front is strong, but tensions over regional representation and resource allocation suggest underlying fractures, with the outcome likely to shape the APC’s electoral strategy.
