Veteran Nollywood actor Odunlade Adekola on July 26, 2025, announced the death of his father, Pa Josiah Adekola, at the age of 82, describing it as a “devastating loss” in an emotional Instagram post.

The elder Adekola, a retired teacher and community leader in Ogun State, passed away on July 25 at a private hospital in Abeokuta after a prolonged battle with diabetes and hypertension. Odunlade, known for films like “Kudi Klepto” and “Asiri Gomina Wa,” shared family photos, thanking fans for support and requesting privacy.

Tributes poured in from colleagues like Funke Akindele and Femi Adebayo, with the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) planning a condolence visit. Local reports indicate Pa Adekola was active in church and education advocacy until his health declined in 2024.

The narrative of grief is personal, but some speculate his legacy may inspire a film, a common Nollywood tribute, though no plans are confirmed. The focus remains on Odunlade’s mourning process amid his busy career.
