Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has issued a stern warning to leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring “your time will end” during a public address on July 10, 2025, in Kaduna.

The statement, made at a political gathering, reflects growing discontent within the party, which El-Rufai hinted is plagued by internal power struggles and mismanagement since his exit from the governor’s office in May 2023. The 64-year-old politician, a key figure in the APC’s 2015 rise to power, suggested that the current leadership’s tenure is nearing its conclusion due to perceived failures in governance and party unity.

El-Rufai, who has been critical of the APC’s direction under National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, pointed to economic hardships and security challenges as evidence of leadership shortcomings. He stopped short of naming specific individuals but alluded to a “cabal” within the party obstructing progress, a term that has fueled speculation about his targets, including President Bola Tinubu’s inner circle.

The former governor, who resigned as minister-designate in 2023 amid controversy, emphasized that the APC must return to its grassroots roots or face electoral defeat in 2027. APC spokespersons have yet to respond, but party loyalists have accused El-Rufai of bitterness over his political sidelining. The warning has reignited debates about the party’s future, with analysts predicting potential factionalism.
