Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri announced a significant increase in the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from ₦19,800 to ₦30,000, effective September 2025, as revealed during the 2025 Batch B Orientation Camp closing ceremony.

The decision, aimed at supporting the 2,500 corps members serving in the state, reflects Fintiri’s commitment to youth empowerment amid a national economic squeeze, with inflation at 33.4%. The governor allocated an additional ₦50 million annually from the state budget to fund the raise, citing the corps members’ contributions to education and community development, including 100 literacy projects since 2023.

The move has been widely praised by NYSC officials and youth groups, but some stakeholders question its sustainability, given Adamawa’s ₦120 billion 2025 budget and reliance on federal allocations, which constitute 60% of revenue. The narrative of youth support is a bold step forward, yet its long-term viability will depend on economic stability and equitable implementation across Nigeria’s 36 states.
